Today I have been married to the most amazing man in the whole world for two incredible years! Looking back on our marriage so far, all I can do is thank the Lord for His awesome grace and love in strengthening our bond through the amazing times and the rocky spots. We have had such a ride.
We had a tough but incredible year long engagement where our awesome God showed us through our amazing pastor Brett Garretson that His
love would be what binds together for eternity when all else fails. We went to Brett to talk about ending our engagement and found ourselves falling more in love with God and with each other through the truth and love that Brett showed us because the Lord led him to do so...it was the most incredible experience. Since all of this was going on and we were just so pumped to be together and doing the Lord's work together, we really didn't care as much about the wedding colors, cake, etc. as many couples do...but we sure did have fun planning!
We had a beautiful wedding at Greenwood Community Church in Greenwood Village, CO with blue and yellow flowers, 7 bridesmaids and 7 groomsmen, and lots of wonderful friends and family there to support us. I will never forget the moment I hung on to my Dad's arm for dear life as the big wooden doors of the chapel swung open and I saw my amazing Hero standing down the aisle from me. My heart jumped for joy and I felt like I was flying to him. He had huge tears in his eyes and a smile that lit up the whole church. All I wanted to do was jump in his arms and stay there forever. Brett officiated an awesome ceremony complete with taking communion and having us read the vows we so carefully picked.
Last year for our anniversary, James had our NC pastor, Alan Wright, at my favorite waterfall downtown with the same vows and we renewed them. It was incredible and so special! He had a 7 stop scavenger hunt that led me through my favorite 7 places in town, to our 7 first friends in Winston, to my favorite dinner, and eventually to Pastor Alan to renew our vows. I got a new rose and clue at every stop. He is so thoughtful and wonderful. I can't believe my husband is the most amazing man that ever lived besides of course Jesus who tops him any day! :)After our perfect wedding, we all headed to Cherokee Ranch and Castle...a gorgeous castle atop the foothills outside of Denver. With beautiful Colorado blue skies and a view of Pike's Peak and the Rockies, we had an awesome evening of dancing and celebration.
Our first dance was to 'God Bless the Broken Road' which is sort of the theme song of our relationship and the song that James proposed to me to during Rascal Flatts concert. Dancing with James was like a dream. We took months of ballroom dancing alongside my parents to prepare which was actually super fun and we may just
be in competitions someday! :) I will also never forget dancing with my wonderful Dad
to Blue Skies which is what he and Mom danced to at their wedding! :) Another highlight of our wedding was dancing with my grandpa Papaw to You Make Me Feel So Young. He is the best dancer in the world and I love him SO much!

We had a jacuzzi and champagne waiting in our room! The next day we headed off to the classroom where we
met on the beautiful University of Colorado at Boulder campus, hiked our favorite
trails where we fell in love, and then went on a week long celebration in St. Lucia where we had the most incredible honeymoon imaginable with our private pool and villa overlooking the serene crystal clear water and white sand. The whole wedding and honeymoon were a true testimony to the grace and provision God showed us even when we thought there was no hope. He has provided a life for us that neither of us ever even dreamed would be imaginable and the beginning of our marriage was the perfect kick-off to a wonderful life together.
Right after our honeymoon we loaded up the pets and things and headed up to North Carolina for James to begin Wake Forest Law School in the fall of 2007. What a fun adventure that was! After moving across the country and me changing careers and James going from full-time work to a student, we figured we'd add another life changing event to the year...we bought our first little home! Samson our golden was the most excited to have nearly an acre to run in and then we were able to rescue him a sister, sweet Daisy May, to share his new Heaven with. :) Daisy has been an extraordinary blessing to our growing family.
After that first year of school, work, new friends, amazing experiences and trips to the gorgeous NC beaches and mountains, etc. we decided something was missing. We felt called to begin a family of our own...which came as a surprise to us both as we really thought we'd wait until well after law school and possibly me going to grad school as well! We realized we hoped to have at least 4 children, and there was no better time to start than the present. Finally, right after the New Year of 2009 arrived, we found out we were expecting our first child! We could not have been more thrilled, nervous, scared, excited, and just amazed than we were. God really showed us guidance, patience, grace and love through our anticipation of starting a family...and we really needed Him every step of the way. The whole pregnancy has been incredible. We thank God every day for the miracle of life He has given to us. Our main hope for our sweet son if that he will love the Lord and seek Him with all of his heart. We pray that Landon will be a light to this world and someone who is much like his Daddy...patient, kind, loving, giving, thoughtful, full of grace and love, and most of all a man after God's own heart. I tell James that if Landon is a lot like his Dad on earth and his Father in heaven I am the most blessed Mom and wife in the whole world! :)
The most important thing we have learned through this marriage is that what Brett taught us during our engagement has really been the one truth that has pulled us through everything. God is the rock that holds us together. We love each other very much but that love is founded only on the love from Christ that He is freely gives to each of us. We remember the triangle scenario often...we get closer together as we seek our Lord (Anna on one corner, James on one corner, Jesus on top of the triangle). We now have Landon coming into our family and hopefully at least three more children if this is the Lord's plan for our lives. We are so excited about this wonderful blessing but know how important it is to keep God first, each other second, and our children very close behind.

Although James and I will love Landon dearly, we are still going to focus on loving and serving God first and each other second and Landon third. We know many relationships fade when children come into the picture and this love God has given us is too special to let that happen to. Landon will have a better home if he can see the love Mommy and Daddy have for Jesus and each other. We will love Landon dearly through each other not at the expense of each other the same way we love each other through the love Jesus provides. What an awesome gift to get to show this type of love to our children! We are praying for the strength and devotion to do this and know it is not the 'popular' or 'common' way to do life. Oh well, we have always been a little 'different' anyway...that's cool though because Jesus was a little weird to the people of his day too! :)
Thanks for keeping up with us through this blog. We love you all dearly and thank each of you for your prayers and support throughout our journey. Please pray for our marriage and for Landon's continued healthy growth and development until he is finally here in only about 9 weeks!
XOXOXO,
The Cohn Family
